Our Mission

Aabhas was founded by three Bollywood veterans in 2007. Our mission: to bring positive and diverse voices to the industry and inspire change through storytelling.

Aabhas connects new ideas with the right industry people to make novel content that inspires. They recognized that TV and film was in a downward morality spiral. The founders saw that the projects getting funded were focused predominantly on violence, sex, and degrading societal values. They felt that projects that had a positive voice needed a better chance to make it to the screen.

Aabhas chooses to stay small but selective - this is as a much a mission as it is a business. Projects must be true to our values. We must have 110% belief in the talent and project. We must be prepared to dedicate time to the project. This takes time and focus. So we chose to stay small, but very effective at what we do.

A Success Story

“Meet” is based on a small theater show in Bihar. The concept was there, the talent was undeniable, but it was raw. We knew if we could spend some time packaging the right material, smoothing some corners, and influencing others we might have something. That process took months, but it was rewarding for all when we started taking it to industry insiders. We even had a bidding war! Imagine, a new talent with no real track record in a bidding war! The rest is history.

This is what we love to do. Make discoveries, develop, and make things happen. All our projects have expectations on being uplifting and meaningful. We stay true to our mission.

How we find projects

Aabhas is, by design, highly selective. We do not have tens of people running around looking for the next famous Ekta Kapoor. We enjoy the serendipity of the process. Our projects come from:

·Industry professionals that need help bringing a project to the screen
Acquaintances and friends that know and our mission introduce us
·We receive ideas from people that experience something and believe in it

We know, and we laugh at ourselves, this is not very scientific. But discovery is not a scientific process. Yet in the end, it has worked for us while allowing to keep to our original mission. We believe that projects that are meant to be will, by fate, reveal themselves to us.
